On September 3, the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) held a Pre-Event Conference to discuss the latest updates and developments in the electric vehicle (EV) industry and promote the upcoming 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit. The conference emphasized the industry's ongoing challenges and solutions, focusing on expanding and forecasting the adoption of electric vehicles in the country.

A key highlight from the conference was the release of the updated EV Roadmap later this month, according to the Department of Energy (DOE). This roadmap will guide the future of EVs in the Philippines as well as provide activities driving the transition towards sustainable and green transportation, reinforced by interagency collaborations involving the DOE, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). 

The DTI also unveiled plans to implement the Electric Vehicle Incentive Strategy/Scheme (EVIS), which aims to make EVs more accessible and accelerate the development of the industry. Meanwhile, the DOTr and Land Transportation Office (LTO) are focusing on public transportation modernization, ensuring that electric vehicles and implementation will be clear and heading towards a more comprehensive path for the industry.

As the 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit approaches, set for October 24-26 at SMX Manila, industry players and stakeholders are eager to drive forward with the theme, “Spark Change, Drive Electric.”
